About two weeks ago, bearing in mind when their signing deadline was.

Good that we were kept informed then! Why do you sound surprised?!

So I'm happy to explain for you. Sam did sign dual reg terms on deadline day in a 'just in case' scenario for Enfield Town's playoff run I understand, I suspect as injury cover - this is pretty common stuff in the pyramid.
Earlier this week it was agreed between Sam and Steve that he could head to Wales to play in European competition for them. With us already down, it's an opportunity for him. I was given that information to release a day or so before it actually came out.
I will take responsibility for the delay - my limited free time this week (we're all volunteers, remember) was focused on penning Steve's farewell that you will have read by now I am sure and producing the programme for the Curzon Ashton game (24th and final of the season).
We're all trying but we are all knackered - this season has been seriously demanding on us all but we'll be at Buxton tomorrow, where we start as distant second favourites again but will be there to keep the club going. Keep behind the lads...two games to go and we can all press reset and hopefully look forward to some more enjoyable times ahead

Thank you very much for the explanation, it's interesting to find out what goes on behind the scenes in these scenarios.
I am not, and never would, bash the contribution (however delayed or not!), of any volunteer. I am truly appreciative towards anybody that dedicated time to the club in any capacity.
In my opinion, the communication on these things has improved a hell of a lot over the past few years from the club, so thank you for that.
Was just surprised to hear the news about Robbins from the Enfield town manager in a post match interview from him. Sam has been a key player for a number of years, so was just taken aback by the news coming out 2 weeks after the deal from another club.
Maybe it's the club who need to keep the volunteers better informed? Obviously not the fault of anyone who gives up their time.

The communication has improved infinitely over the past few years and, judging by Mike's response, the deal was done well before he was told. I look forward to seeing some positive posts on Twitter (X) tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath! I think this season has been one where nearly every post is greeted with relief by the poster that we don't shoot the messenger!

To be honest, it's always been hard work to get info from what is a football club run by people who have other jobs. The only full-time manager we've ever had was Raddy, and the WWW hadn't been invented then. And he did have to run the bar, as well. I've edited the programme, supplied reports to the papers, written the website, and dealt with a load of managers. Some have been better than others at providing information. Walker and Watson were deliberately unhelpful. Rod was pretty decent, but I had to up my minutes on my phone (it was a decade ago, unlimited minutes were just a dream) as we could easily spend an hour on a Sunday/Wednesday morning while he had a good rant. Gordon (RIP) was like dealing with a tsunami (and I've been in a real one) of info, When it comes down to it, no one on the football management side or press team does this as their main job. That's frustrating for fans at times, but we're a seventh tier English football club. There's a limit to what can be done. And there's a limit to what needs to be done.
