Well we started well quickly passing the ball and scored a great goal as a result then both teams decided to hoof the ball and unfortunately Chorley's hoofing was more accurate than ours. Is it just coincidence that opposing teams always score after we make a substitution ? On this occasion we took Jack off on 73 minutes and they scored in 74 minutes before he had walked to the dug out, but its happened so many times this season its become almost predictable. The Chorley manager had a lot to shout about from the dug out having a go at his players all evening, I hate to think what he would be like if they were losing but it seemed to work for them. Apart from the pink strip and the fact they netted 4 times they didn't look that much different and 3rd in the league flattered them. Yes I am bias and no I don't think it should have been a penalty , another ref that enjoys the authority more than the game.

There is not a lot of difference between most of the sides in this league, but I actually thought Chorley were a decent side. They were big, fit, physical and well drilled and bullied us all night. It is hard to argue that they didn’t deserve to win 4-1. We have been unlucky in a number of games but last night wasn’t one of them. Jack Sampson, their big number 9, dominated us all night and their winger Justin Johnson terrorised us out wide. Other than the goal we hardly troubled there back four all night. And whilst Aaron Greene scored a great goal, he was also the one who didn’t track back and lost his man for their second goal.
To me last night demonstrated just how far off the pace we are. Their finishing was clinical. Like many sides in this league, if you make a mistake they punished you. Whereas all season we have been far too lax in front of goal and cannot keep a clean sheet for love not money. Sadly last night was one of the rare occasions this season (Scarborough and Scunthorpe being the others) when it was like watching men against boys.
I left the ground last night wondering where we go from here (it can’t be easy trying to motivate the boys after a poor defeat like that and when they know we are going down) and what happens next season?
