It really is a cruel season. Seconds away from saving a point against Spennymoor and an unnecessary corner in the last of four minutes added on time gave Spennymoor all 3 points . I am still wondering why Giddens walked half way up the pitch for no reason with a minute to go only to have to quickly back track to his goal, totally unsettled and give away the corner which he was unable to collect and fumbled it towards their striker to tap in. They were of course most grateful and it is shown in the Spennymoor assistant managers after match interview from our pitch, spennymoortownfc.co.uk/ .Both the assistant manager and the goal scorer have a lot to say about the pitch and especially the long journey emphasising they are part time players and have jobs to go to. They should be in our position and try it almost weekly throughout the season ! Apart from that the report and comments are reasonably accurate, We slightly got our own back by turning out all the lights before they had finished the managers interview. Like the rest of the Blues supporters I was disappointed how it finished and felt sorry for our players who gave a good display and at times things could so easily have turned in our favour, but at the moment it sums up our luck.

I really don't know what is worse, a poor performance that results in a 4-0 drubbing or a hard fought performance, only to lose with virtually the last kick of the match.
I thought we saw a better drilled team last night, admittedly with the odd mistake, than we have for a long time.

Winning is a habit but so is losing, and sadly I think we are just used to losing this season. How many times have we conceded late goals this season, often due to inexplicable individual errors? On the plus side this week, the team spirit seemed to be good and the effort was there but, as so often this season, we just can’t seem to find a way to put the ball in the net.
Everyone’s thoughts are now turning to next season. As someone recently mentioned to me, if we get relegated by the FA to the Southern Central, rather than the Isthmian, that could permanently confine us to the National League North if we were ever to get promoted again as that is the league the Southern Central feeds it’s promoted sides into.

Not at all. If that was the case the Isthmian League would be a direct feeder to Conference South and we wouldn't be the mess we currently are. We were moved back from Southern Central before, if we end up there we could be moved back again. We were moved from Conference South North to South, nothing is forever. Officially the FA start with a blank piece of paper for each level every season and send clubs to the appropriate division. In reality they try to avoid moving clubs sidewise against their will. As Mr Punch has mentioned, Hemel should be in the north this year as they would do less miles than us, but we were put there as it didn't involve actually moving a club. The saddest thing is, if we'd stayed up we may have been back in the south next season. Assuming Oxford are still considered more northern than us (and it's hard to see how that's changed), three of the current bottom four would be in Conf North.

Assuming Oxford are still considered more northern than us (and it's hard to see how that's changed), three of the current bottom four would be in Conf North. Just to point out that, if Wikipedia can be believed, the Isthmian League is a direct feeder to National League South. My understanding of our move back from Southern League Central to Isthmian came about because Gosport wanted to be in the Isthmian as much as we wanted to be in the Southern League and the FA accepted the idea of a swap. Still having 36 points to play for and seeing the Oxford situation, we can still do it (FFS, who am I trying to kid?!). So, call me vindictive if you want, but I would really like to see Kidderminster and York pull away from their present positions and send two more southern clubs down, just to see what the FA do. Unfortunately, on the "we don't like to move clubs sideways" rule, I suspect Chesham might be screwed and Hemel carry on as before.
